A question for postmenopausal women?

I had a hysterectomy at age 44. I had endometriosis and would have period lasting 16 days). Well I went to the doctor and he told me I am now completely postmenopausal. I am now 47. He started me on Premarin. Ladies, what should I expect regarding moods, food cravings and such? There is also one more thing. My 15 year old son does not want me to start this hormone therapy. He asked me if i will be crabby like I was before the hysterectomy.
