Need help with hinting for this guy to ask me out?

Alright, so there is this guy is in my spanish cl ( we're in high school). And I really don't think I have met someone so perfect ( I know, that sounds so stupid because i'm just in high school but it's true!) We are friends so it's not like i never talk to the kid or anything. He always asks how this one kid got my number, he's always like wait how did he get your number? or why did you give him your number? because he hates the guy. He's getting his license soon so I was thinking what a perfect way to hangout with him outside of school! How do I hint at that I want to hang out with him outside of school? I have to make sure he likes me back because some days he seems really into me and then in the next just kind of normal. But any ideas on how I can hint at him asking me to hangout? Or say something like "hey, i heard its gonna snow tonight- wanna go sledding? would that be to weird/awkward? ah sorry, this is really long but please help!
